Qubool Hai 2.0 released on Zee5 OTT platform on March 12th 2021 and was highly anticipated by the ardent fans who followed season 1 of the show on Zee TV years ago.

Despite of the starry presence of good looking lead actors Surbhi Jyoti & Karan Singh Grover and some breathtaking scenic visuals of Serbia, the show was a disappointment.

Let’s not have a post-mortem of the end product. We’ll superficially examine the underwhelming and lack lustrous 10 episodes of absolute pointlessness.

1) First thing first, OTT platform is full of qualitative and competitive content. If you are migrating a TV show on this medium, it should be at a comparable standard. If not anything else, you owe it to the legacy of the iconic show in whichever medium it was previously introduced.

2) Fiction we understand. But then there should be a limit to unrealistic characters and lame storytelling. Why will a bride fly all the way to Serbia from London for her “destination wedding” to actually flee from the venue? Why dear why? Why bother so much, you should have avoided the Serbia trip altogether. And God knows which country in the world has National Level – medal winning shooters who are also part time spies. Surprised? Wait, there’s more.

3) None of us expected much out of the content once we were introduced into this debilitated atmosphere. Our hopes then fell onto the chemistry and heat which the lead actors were capable of building. At this point, you will realise how crippled even accomplished actors can feel when they are not backed by good writing and direction.

4) All the supporting actors – Mandira Bedi, Arif Zakaria, Lilette Dubey and cast from the Season 1 did put up a good show. But then, why ? What was the point ? It was disheartening to see all of them contributing to a lost cause.

5) Lastly, get ready for the final shock as Qubool Hai 2.0 was left on a cliffhanger and not sure what the subsequent season would be called – ‘Qubool Hai 2.0 Season 2’ or ‘Qubool Hai 2.1’ or ‘Qubool Hai 2.0.1’. Whatever it might be called, it is not the name I am worried about, I am more scared of what lies ahead. The only clever move by makers – to use the same scene in the trailer as well as cliffhanger. It takes courage to make a fool of yourself in this manner, take a bow!
